National Poetry Day

Posted on October 9, 2008 | 1 Comment

Today is National Poetry Day in England!  But what good is an international day of celebration if you can’t celebrate?  To help you along, we’ve created a list of the top five things you can do to ring in the good cheer:

#1 Visit the official website of National Poetry Day and send an e-poem to someone you know.

#2 Make like Arthur Rimbaud and Ernest Hemingway and sip Absinthe ’til the green fairy takes you away.

#3 Dig up old college literature anthologies and start reading - challenge yourself to actually finish “Paradise Lost” this time.

#4 Write a simple, “Roses are red, violets are blue…” poem, sign it “Your Secret Admirer,” and place it on your crush’s windshield before he leaves for work.

#5 Take a walk through nature and absorb the poetry that is this world!

Sweatshop Free…

Posted on October 8, 2008 | No Comments

But we’re still sweating!  Why?  Because it’s eighty-five degrees today and we’re hoping to bust out of the office and head down to the beach.  Yesterday, we took time off to head to Venice for one of Shiva Rea’s yoga classes and we got inspired.  Busting out in a spontaneous Yoga Trance Dance, we were reminded that in this time of economic turmoil we still have the ability to move our bodies and feel the beat of the Earth.  Sure, our portfolios may plummet and our cars may be silenced with the rise of gas prices, but what better way to bring a smile to our faces than jumping around and dancing with fifty other sweat dripping yogis?  So, while our clothes are sweatshop free and made right here in Los Angeles, we believe that term goes way beyond the factory and starts at home.  What’s the point of supporting sweatshop free companies if you’re working seventy hour weeks in miserable conditions just to pay for that product?  Take a moment to step back and look at the bigger picture.  If you’re an employer, I ask you… How are your employees feeling today?  Are they scared?  Crank up the iTunes and let them dance wild in their cubicles.  If you’re a diligent worker, do you feel paralyzed by the possibility that your job may be gone tomorrow? Run off to the beach or the woods, connect with nature and remember that there’s more to life than work.  Remember that you have family and friends and Mother Nature to comfort you when you’re down.  Whatever the case, remember, sweatshop free starts with you!

We’re getting healthy!

That’s right, we’re going green, staying clean, and keeping up our asana practice at this month’s Yoga Health Festival in Los Angeles.  If you’re in the area, stop by.  We’re setting up a booth to sell our tanks and the first book in our yoga series, Grace in Surrender.  It’s the first time we’ll be taking sales off the information superhighway and right onto the streets (okay, maybe it’s not the streets, but you get the picture!).  Come by, say hi, we’ll be there from September 20th to 21st.  Can’t wait to see your smiling yogi faces!

Our First Photo Shoot

It’s our first photo shoot and we had to share our giddiness. We’re like little school girls on the playground, waiting to be kissed by our first crush — so happy and smiling ear to ear. Check out our photos!

Karma for Artists

Posted on May 7, 2008 | No Comments

We like good karma. But there are too many artists out there who go on without ever getting noticed and that’s just bad karma.  We believe in giving credit where credit’s due. In fact, taking credit for someone else’s work is just bad voodoo. And bad voodoo vibes are no good for anyone. That’s why we want to let you know about all the artists involved in the making of our first book, Grace in Surrender.

If you like the cover art of ourShirt Design books and the graphics of our poems, check out Dariela Cruz at Folklore Eye.

And if you want all around good karma, do something nice today!

Our turtles are everywhere!  Check out the photos below to see where they’ve been so far.  We’ll be updating this spot constantly, as we here at Casibella love to travel, so feel free to drop by often.  And if you’re like us, and you love to explore, send us your pics and let us know where your turtles have wandered!
